Although falling down in the shower isn't funny, fixing it is hilarious [Nov. 29th, 2005|09:16 am]
[mood |amusedamused]
[music |The Killers]

I have nothing so terribly interesting or funny as what is going on in Leann's life so I'm going to post about that!

Yesterday, she went to the doctor because ever since she collapsed in the shower five weeks ago (today) she's continued to have dizzy spells and nausea. So, she finally broke down and went to see a doctor about this. After describing her symptoms to a resident it was concluded that she had Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo. Sounds like fun right? Not nearly as much fun as fixing it.

Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo or BPPV to us knowledgeable people (or people with internet access) is caused literally because there were some loose stones rolling around in your head.

Leann's ear

The little white things labeled otoconia are the little stones I was talking about. They are little bits of bone that do, well I'm not sure what they are supposed to do in your ear, but in Leann's ear they got knocked around a bit and ended up in the semicircular canal. Bad stones! No road trip for you! Now for the fun part, to fix this they literally roll your head around so the otoconia will roll through the semicircular canal and end up back where they belong. It looks something like this:

This rolling your head around thing is called The Otolith Repositioning Procedure of Semont and Epley, nice. I was an Otolith Repositioning Procedure once. Well, that's enough of me being nerdy about my girlfriend's health problems for one day.

I'm on a roll this week. [Nov. 18th, 2005|08:59 am]
I have an announcement to make everyone, I, J.R. Knight, am going to Hell, H E double hockey sticks, Hell! I learned this fact after watching an awesome episode of Lost with my Losties. I thought before we started that we missed the first few minutes of the show because my mom doesn't know how to just press the record button, but it turns out I judged her too harshly and even though she taped the show not the way I would have done it, the tape turned out fine. I got to demonstrate the power of my nerdiness while we watched the show, which is always fun. And thankfully, there was no baby in this episode so Leann didn't go crazy and chew Daniel's hair off. I'm so glad it's Friday because that means the next episode is only five days away!! The next batch of episodes is going to be soooo good.

Then, after Lost it was on to the making fun of everyone. Emily quickly decided that I am going to Hell because Leann said I'm not an Australian Chiropractor, which I'm not, but the punishment seems a bit harsh. That's ok, though because Andrew is stupid, Leann and Emily are ugly criers, and Daniel, well he's just mean.

So, that was my Thursday night, I quite enjoyed it, and I told all of you about it this time.

Also, Harry Potter was sold out last night, so I didn't go, but we're looking into next Wednesday night, if people are interested you should let me know because it might be a good idea to go get tickets quite early.

So, I'm just going to put this out there and y'all can tell me what you think [Nov. 17th, 2005|02:17 pm]
Anyone up for a midnight showing of Harry Potter, I've got bachelor camping trip stuff Friday and Saturday night, so I can't this weekend otherwise.

Oh Wednesdays, I've never really been, but I'd sure like to go [Nov. 17th, 2005|08:54 am]
So, a bit of trivia because I'm like that. Wednesday is named after Woden, the father of the Norse pantheon. That makes him the closest thing to a Supreme Being that I'm aware of in the Norse pantheon (I don't know all that much about Norse mythology though, so feel encouraged to correct me).

Wednesday has become my favorite day of the week for a number reasons, the primary ones being Lost and comic books. Lost is one of the most awesome tv shows in the history of the medium and last night was no exception. The episode told the story of the survivors from the tail section of the plane that crashed at the beginning of the show. It was definitely the best episode of the season so far.

For those of you who don't collect or read comic books you wouldn't know that the new issues always come out on Wednesdays. So, every Wednesday for the past few months I've been getting my new comic books on Wednesdays, and true to the nerdy guy I am, I get quite a few books. They're awesome and I make no apologies for the image comic books have. I buy all of the Ultimate Marvel Universe lines, and a whole bunch of series from DC/Vertigo, which is pretty much the coolest publisher out there. One of them, "Y: the Last Man" is awesome, in it a plague has wiped out every mammal with a Y chromosome except for one guy and his pet monkey. Trust me it is way awesome.

Alright, so by now you're probably asking yourselves: "Norse Gods, TV shows, and comic books, what the heck is this post actually about?!"

Oh, my life [Nov. 6th, 2005|10:24 pm]
Let's begin with a summary of my life as written by Frou Frou jump in )

I watched Garden State with my sister while she was home this weekend, and I can now say why I like this movie. Yeah, there's some stuff in there that's weird for the sake of weird, but I like that stuff too. This movie is about a man discovering who he is because he's been overmedicated since he was 9! It's a love story and it's a story about friendships and families; it's awesome! Anyway, the above lyrics are from the last song in the movie and sum up the lessons the main character has learned by the end of the movie.

Well, by Sunday afternoon I'd decided that this song was summing up how I was feeling about my life. It is now late Sunday night and I feel even more like this song is telling all about my current obstacles.

In my last big post, I wrote something about how evil isn't necessary for us to understand the goodness of God. Well, that's still true, but I'm totally in that place where I can be thankful for my problems because I'm seeing God move through them. So, no we don't need evil to see the goodness of God, but it does make a dramatic example.

And now for something completely different: dirty Hamlet madlib )

Well, I'm sure you enjoyed that, and now, good night.

This morning, and tonight [Nov. 4th, 2005|09:37 am]
I have just experienced my first office fire drill. Oh the random herd of jaded adults as they move through the halls heedless of the fake danger at their backs. Yeah, I grabbed my jacket thinking they would do like in school and make us go outside the building for however many feet, but instead we just had to get past the fire doors for our portion of the building. Of course, there was a bottleneck getting through the fire doors so they weren't closed, which makes it more difficult for them to do their jobs. All in all a truly interesting experience.

Well, that was this morning, about tonight, Daniel Goulet is going to be out of town and I want to do something really, really fun. Those two facts aren't connected in any way either, honestly they're not.

I'm thinking really, really fun=lots of people, some form of karaoke, possible board games, movies, or any combination thereof. There's also the possiblity of going out some place; it's mainly a possiblity though because we're all so poor. Other ways to spend money include movies: Chicken Little comes out today, as does Jarhead, and I want to see them both, in addition to other movies already out that I still haven't seen.

So, the ball is in your court (whoever you are). Let's make some magic.

Some thoughts on this morning [Nov. 2nd, 2005|10:49 am]
[mood |mellowmellow]
[music |DCB]

audienceless rant )

work and the future )

this doesn't deserve it's own cut )

Well, that's all the random posting I can do for now. I've actually just finished this post after taking a break to sort out the sheets of ideas from the first big.small.all meeting last night. If you come to a meeting I'll be sorting a sheet with your ideas on it someday. Off to deliver fliers to schools, huzzah!

leave it to DCB [Oct. 28th, 2005|10:48 am]
I didn't realize how rough last night was on me until I got to work and listened to my DCB CD, I'm having trouble getting any work done because it's just so nice to sit and listen and worship to music I really like.
